Compassionate Treatment for Individual Needs

At Crownview Psychiatric Institute, we offer a complete continuum of care for people diagnosed with severe, complex, and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. We take a person-first approach to treatment, which means our experienced staff meets each individual where they are and tailors their treatment plan to leverage their strengths and address their areas of needed improvement, as determined by our comprehensive intake assessment and evaluation.

Evidence-Based Care Grounded in Empathy and Understanding

During our admissions and intake process, we learn as much as we can about each client and determine which level of care will give them the best chance of treatment success.

Level of Care refers to the amount and degree of time, intensity, and immersion required to participate in a specific treatment program at Crownview.

Patients at all levels of care receive the same high-quality, medically directed, data-driven treatment and support. Level of care does not mean level of quality: every level of care at Crownview Psychiatric Institute offers the latest innovative and effective mental health treatment available. Programs include a custom-designed mix of psychotherapy, trauma-informed therapy, counseling, motivational therapy, family therapy, creative arts/expressive therapy, exercise and nutrition therapy, mindfulness and yoga, adjunct services, and medication management.

Programs to Meet Therapeutic and Practical Needs

The level of care and components of each treatment plan depend on the unique needs of each individual, as identified in their intake assessment. In most cases, the primary factors that determine level of care are clinical. Some patients need a significant period of full-time, immersive care in order to learn to manage the symptoms of their disorder, while others need a less time in treatment and a less immersive program to achieve their treatment goals. In other cases, practical considerations – the need to meet work or family commitments, time available for treatment, insurance coverage – play a role in determining the most appropriate level of care.

In all cases, our expert clinicians can find the right level of care for any patient approved by our admissions team.

Crownview Psychiatric Institute: Levels of Care

We offer treatment programs at the following levels of care:

Residential Treatment

Patients in our residential treatment program live off-site in Crownview supportive residencies and participate in six hours of treatment, five days a week. Transportation to and from Crownview is include in the program.

Our residential treatment program is the most intensive therapeutic option we offer. Treatment in our residential program is appropriate for patients who need a full day of treatment, extensive support, and a high level of medical monitoring.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Patients in our partial hospitalization program (PHP) treatment program live off-site in Crownview supportive residencies and participate in six hours of treatment, five days a week. Transportation to and from Crownview is included in the program.

Our PHP program is the most common point of entry. Treatment in our PHP program is appropriate for patients who need a full day of treatment, support, and monitoring, but can live more independently than patients in residential treatment.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Patients in our intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment program live off-site in Crownview supportive residencies and participate in one of two programs:

  • IOP 5: Three hours of treatment and support, five days a week
  • IOP 3: Three hours of treatment and support, three days per week

Like our residential and partial hospitalization programs, transportation to and from Crownview is included in the program. IOP is the least immersive level of care we offer. This level of care is appropriate for patients who are capable of living independently, but need ongoing support to strengthen and solidify the practical skills they learn at the more immersive levels of care.

The Support, Time, and Environment Necessary for Healing

A typical length of stay at Crownview Psychiatric Institute is between two and four months. The amount of time a person spends in treatment depends on their treatment progress and individual needs. At the beginning of treatment, the clinical team and patient collaborate on a timeline that includes measurable milestones to determine treatment progress. When the medical team, clinicians, and patients agree that milestones are met, and progress is made – or not – they collaborate on the next step.

The next step might be stepping down to a less immersive level of care, stepping up to a more immersive level of care, or stepping out into the world to live independently. Whatever step our patients take, they’re part of the Crownview CI family. We remain committed to their ongoing health and wellbeing after their formal treatment program is complete. Many of our patients move from their treatment program to one of our transitional homes, where residency staff assist and support them as they move toward a fully independent life.
